This Privacy Policy regulates the collection, processing, and use of personal data through the Etym mobile application (hereinafter, the "Application"), which Enthusiast LLC owns and which is available to users on the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android).

The user acquires this condition by downloading and using the Application. By accessing the Application, the user acknowledges having accepted and consented unreservedly to this Privacy Policy and the accompanying Terms and Conditions of Use.

1. Data Controller

Enthusiast LLC (hereinafter "Enthusiast LLC" or the "Company"), with registered email address info@joinenthusiast.com, is the owner and data controller responsible for the Application and the processing of personal data collected through it.

2. Object

The Application has been developed with the aim of providing users, in a simple and accessible manner, with daily educational content relating to word origins, etymology, vocabulary, and related linguistic information (hereinafter the "Content"). Users may access this Content through their mobile devices at the frequency of their choosing.

3. Personal Data Collected

Personal data is any information that identifies or allows the identification of a natural person. Enthusiast LLC processes the following categories of personal data:

3.1 Data Provided by the User

Email address (unless the user elects to use Apple Sign In with hidden email functionality)
Display name
Profile photograph (optional)
Authentication credentials via Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or email/password registration

3.2 Data Generated Through Use

Learning progress, including words viewed and completion status
Streak data and consecutive usage records
Quiz scores and performance metrics
User preferences and saved/liked content

3.3 Automatically Collected Data

Enthusiast LLC automatically collects certain information when users visit, use, or browse the Application. This information does not reveal specific identity but may include:

Device information, including device type, model, manufacturer, operating system, and unique device identifiers
Log and usage data, including IP address, browser type, access times, pages viewed, and actions taken within the Application
Diagnostic data, including crash reports and error logs
Location data based on IP address (general geographic region only)

4. Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing

Enthusiast LLC processes personal data for the following purposes:

To provide, maintain, and operate the Application and its features
To track and display user learning progress, streaks, and achievements
To process and manage subscription services and payments
To respond to user inquiries and provide customer support

To send push notifications regarding daily word reminders (where user has opted in)

With all third-party processors, Enthusiast LLC has established appropriate data processing agreements and confidentiality provisions as required by applicable law to protect user privacy.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Enthusiast LLC does not sell personal data to third parties. Personal data may be shared only in the following circumstances:

With service providers and data processors as described in Section 5, solely for the purposes of operating the Application
To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests
To protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of Enthusiast LLC, its users, or the public
In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, in which case the acquiring entity will be bound by this Privacy Policy

7. Data Retention

Enthusiast LLC retains personal data for no longer than is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including the duration of the contractual relationship for use of the Application and any applicable statutory retention periods. When personal data is no longer required, it will be deleted with appropriate security measures to ensure complete destruction or anonymization.

8. User Rights

Subject to applicable law, users may exercise the following rights regarding their personal data:

Access: The right to obtain information on whether personal data is being processed and, if so, to access such data.
Rectification: The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

9. Minors

The Application is intended for users aged 13 years and older. Enthusiast LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without verifiable parental consent.

If Enthusiast LLC becomes aware that personal data has been collected from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, such data will be promptly deleted. Users who become aware of any data collected from children under 13 are requested to contact Enthusiast LLC at info@joinenthusiast.com.

10. Security Measures

Enthusiast LLC implements appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or destruction. All data transfers between the Application and cloud servers are conducted through encrypted secure hypertext transfer protocol (HTTPS). Notwithstanding these measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

11. International Data Transfers

Enthusiast LLC is domiciled in the United States. Users located outside the United States who access the Application acknowledge and consent to the transfer of their personal data to the United States for processing. Enthusiast LLC ensures that such transfers are conducted with appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Enthusiast LLC reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. An updated version will be made available within the Application. Material changes will be communicated to users through the Application or via email. Continued use of the Application following such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
